Area Dentist Achieves Advanced Laser Certification Status

Tucson, Arizona, USA -- March 24, 2001 -- Dr. Jeffrey Cranska of Arnold was awarded advanced profiency certification during the Academy of Laser Dentistry's Eighth Annual Conference and Exhibition held March 21-24, 2001 in Tucson, Arizona. Dr. Cranska was among the 27 laser practioners undergoing advanced examination during the conference by the Academy's Certification Committee.

Successful completion of the certification program formally demonstrates advanced knowledge and clinical profiency in laser dentistry. The certification program administered by the Academy is a structured educational mechanism for dental practioners wishing to achieve high standards of laser dental care. The examination complies with the Curriculum Guidelines and Standards for Dental Laser Education, formulated in July 1992 and updated October 1998 by a group of individuals from dental academia, industry, and private practice, and endorsed by more than 100 organizations worldwide. Some 119 dental practioners have achieved advanced certification since the program was initiated in 1992.

The advanced profiency certification program is administered only during the Academy of Laser Dentistry's Annual Conference. The Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD) is one of the largest international organizations devoted to laser dentistry and includes clinicians, academicians, and researchers in all laser wavelengths. The ALD is devoted to clinical education, research, and the development of standards and guidelines for the safe and ethical use of dental laser technology. ALD was founded in 1993.

Dr, Cranska also holds Category II Academy of Laser Dentistry Certification from the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry, 1999 and Standard Profiency Dental Laser Certification from the Laser Clinical Training Center, University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry, 2000.
